Wow! Here's an incredibly rare pennant from the 1956 NFL Championship Game played at Yankee Stadium. The game pitted the New York Giants against the Chicago Bears. The Giants would demolish the Bears 47 - 7 * to win the NFL Championship.

The pennant measures about 28.5" long. It features the team's mascots on the left hand side. An interesting note, "Football' is incorrectly spelled "Fooball". There are significant condition issues. The pennants coloring has faded and the tip is frayed and a has a small tear. There is some staining and the left hand border shows wear. Even with the condition issues, it still displays nicely.

As mentioned above, this pennant is super rare. It is one of only a handful of examples known to exist. It is listed in Mike Egner's "Vintage Pennant Price Guide" with an estimated value of $1,350- $1,500. If you are a pennant collector, NFL fan or a supporter of "Big Blue" - this is a must have piece. The game was played on an icy field. To adjust to the conditions, the Giants opted to wear sneakers instead of traditional football cleats. The advantage the sneakers provided in footing was cited as a major factor in New York's romp. Twenty-two years earlier on an icy Polo Grounds field, the Giants had employed the same tactic and beat the Bears to win the 1934 NFL Championship in the famous "Sneakers Game."
