This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/10/2016
The Houston Oilers spent Christmas Eve OF 1961 in San Diego and they won their second straight AFL Championship, besting the Chargers in a tight defensive battle, The AFL was noted for a wide open style of play, but the two teams' defenses stifled the offenses for most of the afternoon. Houston's quarterback-kicker George Blanda gave the club an early 3-0 lead with a 46-yard field goal in the second quarter. In the third, he connected with Billy Cannon on a 35-yard pass for the lone touchdown of the game. The Chargers averted a shutout when George Blair booted a 12-yard field goal in the final quarter to round out the scoring.
The program includes photos and bios of all of the players, scouting reports on the two teams and team photos of the squads. San Diego quarterback Jack Kemp signed the front cover of the program as well as his picture in the program. It is in excellent plus condition with no major flaws. Very tough program to find in any condition.
